| Hi Parents & Friends, I hope you've all been enjoying the new year so far! We have many exciting events coming to you soon! The 1st annual Relay for Life will be held on Jan. 28th from 3:30 to 4:00 p.m. Participants will take laps around the field and give a donation to the American Cancer Society. With so many of us having experienced losses due to cancer, we are hoping for a great turnout to raise awareness to a higher level. PTA will be helping at this event with water, snacks, and a few other fun surprises! Don't miss this wonderful opportunity to make a difference! Speaking of Making a Difference, in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr., there was a wishing well placed on the main hall at school, where all were encouraged to place their own wishes and dreams. Come by and see some of the wonderful things our students had to say! We will also have our new mural on display soon, thanks to the hard work of our 4th grade classes during the month of December. It is a beautiful depiction of Desert Life, and you can view the powerpoint presentation from the unveiling ceremony. Coming up on March 7th, we are going to have an early carnival this year, due to the exciting addition of the band Tragedy Andy, who will be performing at the event!! They are a band with local ties who specialize in meaningful lyrics and upbeat music. They were such a hit with students and parents alike during their appearances at school and the community last fall, so we have asked them to perform at the carnival. We are so excited to have them! As usual, the carnival will have BBQ, free games, inflatables, a free cake walk, and a basket raffle. Please support us by volunteering and help us keep this event affordable with your donations to the cake walk and basket raffle. Follow this link to submit your name as a volunteer.
